IB at LHS
Committed to Holistic Education
The IB develops inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through education that builds intercultural understanding and respect.

At LaGrange High School, we aim to guide students toward becoming productive citizens in a diverse and changing world by offering programs that are designed to foster intercultural understanding and respect. In an effort to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people, the LaGrange High School International Baccalaureate program aims to cultivate challenging programs of international education with creative and rigorous assessments, while inspiring students to become curious and lifelong learners.

The IB Diploma Program (DP) at LHS is a rigorous, holistic pathway that encompasses the junior and senior years, potentially resulting in a special diploma indicating completion of all required components. The DP not only focuses on academics, but also challenges students in the areas of personal character development (via the IB Learner Profile Attributes), research, creativity, action, and service.

Application to the DP happens during the winter of the sophomore year. Students planning to apply for the DP should be familiar with the Admissions Policy (found on this site) and should communicate to their counselors as freshmen that they plan to pursue the DP. This will ensure that they take the appropriate courses to become eligible for application.
